Riverway Law Limited is incorporated as a Private Limited Company Registered in England & Wales, Company Registration No. 08562850 and is regulated by the SRA under Registration No. 655003

All of our work is carried out on a fixed fee basis.

This means that we will charge you a fixed amount, even if the work on your application takes longer than anticipated, provided that there are no unforeseen complications or significant changes to your instructions.

The amount of the fixed fee will vary depending on a number of factors:

  • The complexity of your case
  • The urgency of your case
  • Any need to request to work outside of normal office hours
  • The number of documents and other supporting evidence involved in your application
  • Whether you are situated in the UK or abroad
  • The expertise or specialist knowledge required
  • Time spent on personal and other attendances
  • Whether you speak English or require the use of an interpreter
  • Preparation, drafting and perusal of documents
  • Whether you are applying with other dependants

If the matter is terminated before completion (for example if you are unable to provide documents requested or you withdraw your instructions) we will charge for the time spent at our usual hourly rates or in proportion to the fixed fee.

Disbursements

In addition to our costs, you will also be responsible for any additional costs that may be paid on your behalf to third parties. These include (approximate fees in brackets):

  • Barristers fees (£750 – £5000)
  • Home Office fees (see table below)
  • The Immigration Health Surcharge (£624/year)
  • Court/Tribunal fees (£140 – £1500)
  • Expert Report fees (£800 – £2500)
  • Medical reports (£1500 – £2500)
  • Interpreter/Translator fees (£25-£50 / hour)
  • Our travel expenses if we have to travel outside of our office on your behalf
  • Courier fees

Value Added Tax (VAT)

All of our charges (and many of the other expenses incurred, such as disbursements) may be subject to VAT at the rate in effect at the time. The government is responsible for setting the rate for VAT which is currently 20%.

VAT applies if your usual place of residence is the UK or the EEA or if you originally had a right of residence in the UK but have lost that and your appeal rights are ongoing. If you are not resident in the UK or EEA, or you entered the country without permission or as an asylum seeker and do not yet have leave to remain, you are not normally liable to pay VAT.

Services Included

The work will involve:

  • discussing your circumstances in detail and confirming whether this is the most appropriate application for you to make and what other options may be available to you
  • giving you advice about the requirements of the Immigration Rules and whether you meet the criteria
  • if you do not fulfill certain criteria, whether this can be overcome and how
  • considering the supporting evidence you have provided
  • where necessary, helping you obtain further evidence (such as medical records and bank statements), including taking statements of any witnesses
  • preparing your application and submitting it on your behalf
  • attendance at a Home Office interview: if the Home Office ask you to attend an interview, we will give you clear advice (and discuss the possibility of us attending with you) at the appropriate time
  • giving you advice about the outcome of the application and any further steps you need to take

Please note that where the Home Office refuses your application, advice and assistance in relation to any appeal, administrative review or judicial review challenge is not included within the price. A separate retainer will need to be entered into to cover further action.
